Smiles Package for Max Ellington!

Last week AJU foundation delivered a Smiles Package to Max, a 7-year-old who recently had a baseball size tumor removed from the base of his brain. Max’s scar from the surgery was the same as Alec’s. Fortunately for Max, the growth did not go into his spine. He will soon finish his radiation treatments.

Max is a super sweet kid. One time when he was at the hospital and heard the nurses talking about his situation, he turned to his mother and told her he did not want to die, because he would miss her, and he would be sad if he could not see her. It breaks my heart that a 7 year old boy has to talk to his mom like that. Max is doing well, though, and was really happy when we came over to deliver the package. It was good for him to talk to Alec and realize that he is not the only one who has and is going through what he is going through.

The Smiles Package

The Smiles Package we put together for him included many sharks, Max’s favorite animal, and an aquarium with lots of fun things to add to it and 10 fishes to put inside it! Max loves cars and helicopters too, so we gave him several cars, a helicopter and a cool puzzle. He was also super stoked about the fossil extraction kit we threw in there. He told us, “this is the best day ever!” We were very happy to put a smile on Max’s face, thanks so  much for all your donations to make this possible. Max and his family were very grateful.
